The first show we did was half in Spanish, half in English.

The English language half is co-hosted by Jennifer Doyle and Alan Minsky, with Nick Green joining in for 15 minutes; while the other part of the show is with Ricardo Gomez.

Jennifer, Nick, and Alan focus on the prospects for the USA men’s team in World Cup 2010; while Ricardo, Jennifer, and Alan look at El Tri, the Mexican National team.

The People’s Game is the most ambitious radio talk show about the 2010 World Cup in the United States.  Produced daily, the show will preview every match just as it analyzes every game that’s been played.  And it will do so, by having 32 designated correspondents, one for each team in the tournanament, made up of some of the leading sports journalists and writers in the world.  Also, as a KPFK/Pacifica Radio production, every show will include in-depth segments about the social, cultural, economic, and political subtexts of the 2010 World Cup.

KPFK’s The People’s Game will be available daily on KPFK.org by 5pm throughout the tournament.  You can also sign up to receive the daily podcast of the show at KPFK.org as well as at the show’s own website: www.thepeoplesgame.org.

The show will also air once a week on KPFK 90.7fm Los Angeles, 98.7 in Santa Barbara on Wednesday at 8:30pm in english; at 9pm in Spanish.

The english-language show will be hosted by a round table of soccer-knowledgable analysts including KPFK Program Director (and former sportswriter) Alan Minsky; feminist soccer blogger Jennifer Doyle; the Daily Breeze’s Nick Green creator of the blog 100 Percent Soccer; Pablo Miralles, director of the film Gringos at the Gate about the USA-Mexico soccer rivalry; and Omar Varela a young journalist with encyclopedic knowledge of Latin American soccer.  The spanish langauge show will be hosted by Telemundo’s Riccardo Gomez; Raul Macias, organizer of Los Angeles’ Anahuak soccer leagues; and Tony Presido, a soccer journalist and a partisan of Spain, one of the tournament’s favorites.
